1 John 3:19-20

This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.

In the biblical story of the prodigal son, he comes to his senses in the pig pen and is drawn to return home. His heart condemns him telling him he is not worthy to be a son and should just ask to be his father’s hired hand. Of course, that was a lie of the enemy!

My prayer for the prodigal is that they will learn to distinguish between a lie and the truth; that they will know without a doubt that God and their family truly love them and will receive them back with open arms. May their heart find rest in His presence at a time when it might try and condemn them.
