2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

What a great thought, that the Holy Spirit can do on the inside of us the opposite of what the world is doing to the outside of us! We should have an internal renewal process going on day by day that causes our spirit to be more excited and alive. That excitement is fueled by knowing our time here on earth is short and our eternal glory is going to outweigh any troubles we may have had. The trials we work through actually are of benefit in maturing us and strengthening us in the faith. So, in times of trouble we must fix our eyes on what we can’t really see but yet can rely on because He has promised.

I pray the prodigal will not loose heart; that they will find they are being renewed each day. I pray they are learning to walk by faith, not sight, knowing what they see is only temporary.
